Beschrijving keerzijde Stylized horse leaping to the left in the characteristic Celtic abstract manner, rendered with elongated limbs and simplified musculature. An eight-spoked wheel occupies the upper field above the horse, a common votive or solar symbol found on Boii Celtic coinage of this type. The design is executed in the degenerate La Tène style with strong schematization of both the equine figure and the surrounding field elements.

Aanvullende informatie

The Boii were expelled from Bohemia by the Marcomanni around 50–60 BC, forcing a southward migration that brought them into the Middle Danube region. This displacement explains the geographic clustering of Tótfalu-type finds in what is now southern Slovakia and northern Hungary — these coins are effectively a refugee coinage, struck by a people in the process of territorial collapse. The type shows significant die-link variation across known specimens, suggesting small-batch production rather than any centralized mint authority.
