| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped bust of the anonymous king Soter Megas facing right, wearing a distinctive Kushana helmet or diadem, the effigy rendered in a bold if somewhat schematic hammered style characteristic of early Kushan coinage. The bust occupies the central field, with the surrounding Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ ΣΩΤΗΡ ΜΕΓΑΣ (King of Kings, the Great Saviour) disposed around the periphery. The portrait shows the ruler with visible drapery at the shoulder, the facial features worn but discernible. The flan is irregular and slightly dumpy, as is typical for hammered copper issues of this series. |
