Additional information

The "Soter Megas" — Great Savior — title appears on Kushan coinage issued by a ruler whose personal name remains unknown to scholarship. Whether this anonymous king was a regent, a usurper, or a transitional figure between Vima Takto and Vima Kadphises is still debated. The title itself may have been borrowed from Parthian royal convention, reflecting the cultural crossroads the Kushans occupied between Rome, Parthia, and the Indian subcontinent.

Small copper fractions of this type circulated heavily in the frontier regions of Bactria and Gandhara.
