The laureate wreath is abstracted into a series of bold, elongated pellets and lenticular bosses arranged across the crown of the head. Facial features — including the eye, rendered as an oval boss, and the beard, suggested by curving incuse lines at the chin — are reduced to geometric Celtic decorative elements. The overall treatment reflects the progressive barbarisation of the Hellenistic prototype, retaining the general rightward orientation of the archetype while imposing a distinctly Celtic artistic vocabulary. |
