The sun god's characteristic radiate crown is depicted as pointed rays emanating from the hair around the entire circumference of the head. The facial features are finely articulated, with a serene expression, slightly parted lips, and naturalistic modelling of the cheeks and brow typical of late Rhodian coinage. No legend appears on the obverse, the entire flan being dominated by the imposing effigy. |

The rose is surrounded by a circle of large, evenly spaced beads forming a decorative border. The magistrate's name ΚΡΙΤΟΚΛΗΣ is inscribed in Greek letters in the upper field along the inner border, while the city ethnic Ρ Ο appears divided to the left and right of the rose within the bead circle. |
