| 裏面の説明 | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to the left upon a backless throne, his nude torso rendered in profile with a draped lower body; he extends his right hand forward to present an eagle with spread wings, while his left hand firmly grasps a tall upright scepter. In the left field below the throne, a palm branch tied with fillets serves as a mint control symbol, and in the exergue appears a spear-head as a further control mark. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander. The composition adheres closely to the canonical reverse type established under Alexander III and continued by his successors. |

Struck at Teos, a coastal Ionian city on the western Aegean, this drachm belongs to the posthumous Alexander series issued immediately after Alexander's death in 323 BC. The Teos mint operated only briefly within this series, making Price 2259 one of the scarcer regional issues. Control marks distinguish the handful of dies used, and the mint closed before the succession wars had fully resolved who held authority over the Ionian coast.
