| Obverse description | Right-facing head of the deified Herakles in three-quarter relief, wearing the lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forelegs knotted beneath the chin. The facial features are rendered with fine naturalistic detail, including a strong jaw, prominent nose, and subtly parted lips. The mane of the lion skin frames the face with bold striated engraving, cascading behind the neck. The field is plain, with no legend, consistent with the standard Alexander III drachm type as struck at the Sardis mint. |
