| Descrizione del dritto | Diademed head of Ariobarzanes III in right profile, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition. The effigy displays long, flowing locks swept back from the forehead and secured by a plain diadem, with finely modelled facial features including a prominent nose and defined jaw. The portrait occupies the majority of the flan, which is slightly irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck production. The field is plain and unadorned, with no surrounding legend on the obverse. The style reflects the influence of Seleucid and Pontic royal coinage of the late Hellenistic period. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Standing figure of Athena Nikephoros facing slightly left, draped in a long peplos, holding a spear in her left hand and extending a Nike in her right. A star and monogram appear in the left field, with a second monogram visible in the right field. The encircling Greek legend reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΡΙΟΒΑΡΖΑΝΟΥ ΕΥΣΕΒΟΥΣ ΦΙΛΟΡΩΜΑΙΟΝ, distributed along the upper and lateral periphery of the flan. The reverse type closely follows the standard iconography established by earlier Cappadocian royal drachms. The overall execution is characteristic of the provincial Hellenistic die-cutting tradition at Mazaca. |
