| 表面の説明 | Draped bust of Ardashir III facing right, surmounted by a mural crown adorned with a frontal crescent and korymbos set upon a crescent, with ribbon extending over the left shoulder and a crescent-and-ribbon motif on the right. Stars flank the crown in the upper field, and star-in-crescent devices are distributed throughout the margin. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic late Sasanian die-cut style, with fine linear detailing on the royal regalia. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends are present in the surrounding field. |

Ardashir III came to power at age seven following the assassination of his father Kavad II, who had himself reigned for only a matter of months in 628. The boy-king was dead within two years, murdered on the orders of the general Shahrbaraz. The re-engraved dies on this issue almost certainly reflect the administrative chaos of that transition — recycling existing Sasanian die stock rather than commissioning fresh work, a practical shortcut during a period when the empire was cycling through rulers faster than mints could respond.
