Reverse description A fire altar with pendant ribbons occupies the central field, flanked on either side by standing attendants in Sasanian court dress facing the altar. A star and crescent appear above the altar flames, symbolizing divine sanction of royal authority. Star-in-crescent devices are repeated throughout the margin, consistent with late Sasanian iconographic conventions. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends denoting the mint name and regnal year are placed in the surrounding field.
