The hero's clean-shaven features display the idealized Lysippan physiognomy associated with the Alexander coinage, with a strong jaw, full lips, and a broad brow. The lion's forelegs are knotted at the throat, and the pelt drapes naturalistically over the back of the head. The field is plain, with no legend or inscription, conforming to the standard Alexandrine drachm obverse type. |

The god's himation falls over his lap and legs, and his bare torso and muscular frame are rendered with classical dignity. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field. A monogram control mark appears in the left field and a second control symbol is placed below the throne, both serving as mint or magistrate identifiers characteristic of the Abydus issue struck under Antigonus I Monophthalmus. |
