Obverse description Bare head of the youthful Heracles in right profile, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, the open jaws and mane rendered in fine detail over the crown and trailing behind the neck. The hero's clean-shaven features display the idealized Lysippan physiognomy associated with the Alexander coinage, with a strong jaw, full lips, and a broad brow. The lion's forelegs are knotted at the throat, and the pelt drapes naturalistically over the back of the head. The field is plain, with no legend or inscription, conforming to the standard Alexandrine drachm obverse type.
