| Obverse description | Bust of the Sasanian king in three-quarter view facing right, wearing an elaborate winged crown with crescent and globes in the Sasanian royal tradition, set within a beaded inner border. The portrait displays characteristic late Sasanian stylistic conventions with detailed rendering of the royal headdress and facial features. Marginal Arabic legends appear in the surrounding field, identifying the governor and Islamic formulae, replacing the original Pahlavi inscriptions of the Sasanian prototype. Small annulets are visible in the outer margin at the cardinal points. |
