Following the death of Ziyad ibn Abihi's administrative dynasty in the east, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amir served as a transitional governor whose coinage continued the Arab-Sasanian practice of retaining Pahlavi legends and fire-altar reverses while inserting Arabic bismillah inscriptions in the margins. His issues are among the less frequently encountered of the Arab-Sasanian series, reflecting a governorship that left little administrative footprint beyond the coins themselves.
