| Description du revers | Herakles depicted kneeling to right in the act of drawing his bow, his body shown in three-quarter view with musculature rendered in the archaic convention. The hero wears the Nemean lion skin, with the pelt draped over his shoulders and forearm; a lion's head appears to the right, facing right. The design is set within a shallow incuse square, characteristic of early hammered Greek coinage, with the legend ΘΑΣΙΟΝ inscribed in the field identifying the issuing city of Thasos. |
