| Obverse description | Two male facing heads side by side, rendered in high relief in the distinctive archaic-influenced style characteristic of Istrian coinage. The right-facing head is inverted, its features depicted with pronounced plasticity including almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and flowing hair with a central top-knot or bun. The left head is shown upright, youthful and clean-shaven, adorned with a leafy wreath, its face rendered en face with finely modeled features. Both heads share the field without a border legend, occupying the full flan in a bold and striking composition. This unusual paired-heads motif is a hallmark of Istrian silver coinage and is thought to reference the Dioskouroi or local river deities. |
