| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large trident symbol occupies the center of a shallow incuse square, its prongs directed upward and its handle terminating in a decorative finial below. Within the incuse square, a small figure of a running male, possibly representing a miner or warrior, is depicted beneath the trident shaft, with a pellet to his right. The ethnic legend ΔΑΜΑΣΤΙΝΩΝ is distributed around the periphery of the coin outside the incuse square, reading partially along the sides and base in Greek characters. The incuse square itself has slightly beveled inner edges, a hallmark of early Greek hammered coinage technique. The overall composition reflects the mining wealth and civic identity of the silver-rich city of Damastion. |
