Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus facing right, rendered in robust, high-relief style characteristic of Thessalian coinage of the mid-second century BC. The hair is full and wavy, swept back from the forehead, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated atop the head. The full beard is rendered with deeply engraved, flowing locks, and the facial features display a strong, mature profile with a prominent brow and aquiline nose. The field is plain, with the design filling the flan in the bold, expressive tradition of Magnesian die-cutters.
