| Descrizione del dritto | Head of Athena facing right, wearing an Attic helmet adorned with an olive wreath along the bowl; the helmet features a prominent raised crest with finely rendered radial lines and a cheek guard turned upward. The goddess's facial features are rendered with high relief and naturalistic detail characteristic of South Italian Greek coinage of the mid-fifth century BC, with a well-defined eye, aquiline nose, and slightly parted lips. The neck and lower truncation are visible at the coin's lower edge, and the flan is irregular as typical of the hammered coinage of this period. |

The bull stands on a plain exergual line, below which appears the city ethnic legend in archaic Greek characters. The vigorous naturalism of the bull type is a hallmark of the revived Sybarite coinage struck at Thourioi following the refoundation of the city circa 446 BC, and the composition conveys considerable energy and plasticity within the compact flan. |
