The goddess's facial features are rendered with high relief and naturalistic detail characteristic of South Italian Greek coinage of the mid-fifth century BC, with a well-defined eye, aquiline nose, and slightly parted lips. The neck and lower truncation are visible at the coin's lower edge, and the flan is irregular as typical of the hammered coinage of this period. |

The vigorous naturalism of the bull type is a hallmark of the revived Sybarite coinage struck at Thourioi following the refoundation of the city circa 446 BC, and the composition conveys considerable energy and plasticity within the compact flan. |
