The lettering is rendered in Latin and runs continuously around the outer border. |

| Opis rewersu | A crowned shield bearing the combined arms of France and Navarre occupies the central field, the shield presented without flanking supporters. The date appears within the legend, which reads GRATIA. D. SVM. Q. SVM., a biblical inscription translated as 'By the grace of God, I am what I am' (1 Corinthians 15:10). The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in a style typical of late sixteenth-century French royal coinage. |
