Double Siglos

Lapethos, on the northern coast of Cyprus, operated under successive Phoenician dynastic rulers during this period, and its coinage reflects that cultural overlap — neither purely Greek in convention nor fully Phoenician. The double siglos denomination itself is unusual for Cypriot mints, which more commonly struck in the single siglos range, suggesting this piece was intended for larger commercial transactions or official payments, possibly tied to tribute obligations under Achaemenid Persian administration.
