The fleur-de-lis is rendered in the Gothic style typical of Capetian-Valois coinage, with prominent lateral petals and a central stalk. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle within the outer beaded border. The overall design is characteristic of the hammered billon coinage of Philippe VI of Valois. |

The composition is a classic example of the double parisis reverse type as issued under the Valois monetary reforms of the early 1340s. |
