The monogram is surrounded by a circular legend in Latin uncial script reading H DNS BRAGAIRACII LANC COME, identifying Henry as Lord of Bergerac and Count of Lancaster. The die is irregularly struck on a roughly round hammered flan, typical of mid-14th-century feudal French coinage, with legend partially weak at the margins due to flan irregularities. |
