| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Pope Clement VIII in high relief, wearing the papal cope richly decorated with ornamental embroidery and a small medallion visible at the lower left of the vestment. The effigy is rendered in a bold, naturalistic late Renaissance style characteristic of late 16th-century Italian hammered coinage. A beaded inner border frames the portrait, with the circular Latin legend distributed around the periphery reading CLEMENS VIII PONT MAX, interrupted by small pellet stops. The letter G appears in the right field as a mint or engraver mark. |
