The cross extends to an inner beaded circle, outside of which the circumferential legend runs in Gothic uncial script. The design is characteristic of the Anglo-Gascon double denier series, reflecting the dual lordship of the English crown over the Duchy of Aquitaine. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is typical of hammered medieval issues. |
