The Roman numeral X, denoting the denomination of ten shillings (Double Crown), appears in the field behind the bust. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, interrupted by pellet stops. The portrait is characteristic of the second bust type introduced at the Tower Mint following Charles I's accession in 1625. |
