In the exergue below a ground line, two tunny fish are shown swimming in opposite directions, referencing the city's maritime prosperity. The ethnic legend ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ curves along the upper periphery of the coin in clear Greek capitals, identifying the issuing city of Thurii in Lucania.
