| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing an Attic helmet richly adorned with a Scylla figure clutching a rudder as the crest decoration. A small Nike figure bearing a wreath appears in the field behind the goddess. The portrait is rendered in the fine South Italian Greek style, with carefully articulated facial features and detailed helmet cheekpieces. The composition fills the flan with characteristic high-relief modeling typical of Thurian silver coinage of the mid-to-late fourth century BC. |

| Reverse description | A powerful bull charging and butting to the right, rendered in bold high relief with vigorous anatomical detail characteristic of the finest Thurian die work. A flaming torch is depicted in the upper field above the bull's back, serving as a civic emblem of Thourioi. In the exergue below a ground line, two tunny fish are shown swimming in opposite directions, referencing the city's maritime prosperity. The ethnic legend ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ curves along the upper periphery of the coin in clear Greek capitals, identifying the issuing city of Thurii in Lucania. |
