| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the tughra of Sultan Ahmed I rendered in bold, deeply struck Arabic calligraphy in the characteristic Ottoman style. The monogram fills the flan with sweeping interlocked strokes typical of hammered provincial coinage. The legend is executed in thuluth script with bold relief, the whole contained within a plain border. The irregular flan and characteristic die-sinking show the workmanship of the Aleppo provincial mint. |
