Obverse description Within a central circle, Arabic script legend occupying the field in flowing Maghribi calligraphy, indicating the mint name Marrakesh and the Hijri date. The central device is enclosed by a pearl border (grenetis) followed by a continuous outer circle. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hand-hammered Moroccan dirhams of the Alaoui dynasty period.
