| Description de l’avers | Anepigraphic field featuring a stylized geometric ornamental device composed of a central rectangular cartouche surmounted by a triangular finial, flanked by curvilinear vegetal scrollwork and pellets arranged symmetrically in the field. The design is entirely decorative with no legible inscription, characteristic of the so-called 'ornamental type' dirhams attributed to the Bulghar mint of the Golden Horde. The motifs are rendered in low relief on an irregular flan with granular surface texture. Pellets are distributed around the central device, serving as field ornaments rather than diacritical marks. The overall composition reflects a non-epigraphic artistic tradition distinct from contemporaneous Mongol coinage bearing Arabic legends. |

The anepigraphic Bulghar dirhams pose one of the more stubborn attribution problems in Golden Horde numismatics. Lacking mint names or ruler titles, these pieces were long treated as a catch-all category before Sagdeeva's work brought greater order to the series. The ornamental type specifically appears to have been struck during a period of administrative flux in the western ulus, when the Volga Bulgar region was being consolidated more tightly under Mongol fiscal control following the disruptions of Berke Khan's reign.
The weight of 1.26g sits at the lower end of the Bulghar dirham standard for this window, consistent with a gradual debasement trend documented across the 1290s issues.
