Obverse description Anepigraphic field featuring a stylized geometric ornamental device composed of a central rectangular cartouche surmounted by a triangular finial, flanked by curvilinear vegetal scrollwork and pellets arranged symmetrically in the field. The design is entirely decorative with no legible inscription, characteristic of the so-called 'ornamental type' dirhams attributed to the Bulghar mint of the Golden Horde. The motifs are rendered in low relief on an irregular flan with granular surface texture. Pellets are distributed around the central device, serving as field ornaments rather than diacritical marks. The overall composition reflects a non-epigraphic artistic tradition distinct from contemporaneous Mongol coinage bearing Arabic legends.
