Reverse description Central field displays a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription in five horizontal lines, naming the Abbasid caliph al-Muqtadir and the Samanid amir Nasr II b. Ahmad, along with the subordinate governor Ahmad b. Sahl, following the standard hierarchical titulature of Samanid subsidiary coinage. The central inscription is enclosed within a single circular line, surrounded by a circular marginal legend in Kufic script carrying the Quranic citation (Quran 9:33) or mint and date formula. The reverse margin is bounded by a beaded inner ring and a plain outer rim, with the flan exhibiting the characteristic irregular edge of a hand-struck hammered flan struck at the Andaraba mint.
