Ahmad, along with the subordinate governor Ahmad b. Sahl, following the standard hierarchical titulature of Samanid subsidiary coinage. The central inscription is enclosed within a single circular line, surrounded by a circular marginal legend in Kufic script carrying the Quranic citation (Quran 9:33) or mint and date formula. The reverse margin is bounded by a beaded inner ring and a plain outer rim, with the flan exhibiting the characteristic irregular edge of a hand-struck hammered flan struck at the Andaraba mint. |
