Obverse description Central field contains a multi-line Arabic and Mongolian (Uighur script) legend reading 'Sulayman / delet-kegiilugsen' (meaning 'Sulayman, the fortunate'), arranged horizontally across the flan. The surrounding marginal legend, partially visible due to the irregular flan, reads 'darb Ani' (struck at Ani) followed by a partial AH date ending in 'wa-arba'in' (and forty), indicating a date in the 740s AH. The die is struck on a characteristically thin, irregular hammered flan with a partial inner beaded border visible at the upper left, typical of late Ilkhanid provincial coinage.
