| Obverse description | Central field bears the Islamic Shahada in Arabic script, arranged in multiple lines within a border: 'La ilaha illa allah wahdahu la sharika lahu muhammad rasul allah salla allah alayhi wa-alihi wa-sallama' (There is no god but God alone, He has no partner; Muhammad is the messenger of God, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace). The inscription is the principal design element, executed in a stylized Kufic or Naskh hand typical of Ilkhanid hammered silver coinage, with no figurative imagery present. |
