The inscriptions contain the religious formula and the name of the Hammudid ruler Idris II al-Ali. The lettering is bold and angular in the Kufic style characteristic of Andalusian Taifa coinage of the mid-eleventh century. The margins bear additional marginal legends in a smaller script, partially off-flan due to the irregular square shape of the hammered blank. |
