| Obverse description | The obverse displays three horizontal lines of Arabic script in the central field, rendered in a bold cursive hand typical of Golden Horde coinage. The uppermost line bears the name and title of Khan Tokhtamysh, with the word 'Sultan' prominently featured. Decorative pellets punctuate the spaces between the lines of text. The legend fills the flan with no surrounding border, consistent with hammered steppe coinage of the late 14th century. |
