Jani Beg's reign over the Golden Horde coincided with one of the most catastrophic events in recorded history: the Black Death swept through the western steppe in 1346–1347, killing a significant portion of the Horde's population and decimating the administrative apparatus that kept the mint network functioning. Saray al-Jadida, the "New Saray" founded by Uzbek Khan earlier in the century, was the primary seat of Jani Beg's power and the source of most of his currency output.
The Sagdeeva double-reference here reflects a documented obverse die variation across this emission, not a separate issue.
