| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend within a circular cartouche, naming the ruler Jani Beg Khan. The central inscription is enclosed by a plain raised inner circle, beyond which a continuous circular Arabic legend runs in the annular zone, invoking the full royal titulature of Jalal ad-dunya wa al-din Mahmud Sultan. The outer border is defined by a beaded or cable-pattern rim, typical of Golden Horde hammered silver coinage. The entire design is executed in bold, angular Thuluth-style script characteristic of mid-14th century Jochid issues. The flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, consistent with hand-struck production. |
