| Reverse description | The reverse displays a multi-line Arabic mint and date legend enclosed within a characteristic lobed or cusped cartouche frame, a decorative device commonly employed on Golden Horde dirhams of this period. The inscription, arranged in three horizontal lines within the frame, gives the mint name Saray al-Jadida and the Hijri year of striking. The lobed border with concave quadrilateral corners is rendered in clear relief against a flat field. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the edges, consistent with hand-struck Mongol silver currency of the 740s AH. |
