Anonymous silver issues from Bulghar under Uzbeg Khan occupy a peculiar administrative niche — struck without the khan's name at a mint that had been a major Volga trade hub since the 10th century, these pieces circulated through one of the most active commercial networks in the medieval world. Uzbeg's reign (1313–1341) marked the firm Islamization of the Golden Horde's ruling apparatus, yet certain provincial issues retained older anonymous formats, possibly reflecting local mint conventions or transitional administrative arrangements.
