Obverse description Central field bears the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) inscribed in angular Kufic script arranged in three or four lines, reading 'There is no god but God alone, He has no associate.' The central legend is enclosed within a single inner circle, surrounded by a marginal inscription band containing a Quranic or mint legend in Kufic script. The overall style is purely epigraphic, devoid of figurative imagery, consistent with post-reform Umayyad coinage introduced under Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan in 77 AH (696/697 CE). The coin displays characteristic irregular flan edges and slightly uneven strike typical of hammered silver production.
