| Obverse description | Central field bears the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) inscribed in angular Kufic script arranged in three or four lines, reading 'There is no god but God alone, He has no associate.' The central legend is enclosed within a single inner circle, surrounded by a marginal inscription band containing a Quranic or mint legend in Kufic script. The overall style is purely epigraphic, devoid of figurative imagery, consistent with post-reform Umayyad coinage introduced under Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan in 77 AH (696/697 CE). The coin displays characteristic irregular flan edges and slightly uneven strike typical of hammered silver production. |

| Reverse description | Central field contains a multi-line Kufic inscription, typically the second part of the Shahada and a Quranic verse, most commonly Quran 9:33: 'Muhammad is the Messenger of God, who sent him with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religions.' The text is arranged in four lines within a central circle, with a surrounding marginal band bearing the mint name and date formula in Kufic script. The purely epigraphic design is characteristic of the reformed Umayyad silver coinage, with no decorative elements beyond the concentric circular borders framing the inscriptions. Strike and centering are typical of hand-hammered provincial Umayyad production. |
