The inscription is enclosed within a circular marginal legend in Kufic script running around the inner border. The entire design is purely epigraphic, consistent with the reformed Umayyad coinage introduced under Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan in 77 AH (696–697 CE), with no figural or symbolic imagery. The coin exhibits characteristic hammered fabric with a slightly irregular flan. |
