| Obverse description | Central field contains the shahada in three lines of Kufic Arabic script, reading 'لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له' (There is no god but God alone, He has no partner). The inscription is enclosed within a circular marginal legend in Kufic script running around the inner border. The entire design is purely epigraphic, consistent with the reformed Umayyad coinage introduced under Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan in 77 AH (696–697 CE), with no figural or symbolic imagery. The coin exhibits characteristic hammered fabric with a slightly irregular flan. |
