| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features a central square tablet enclosing the Kalimah (Islamic declaration of faith) in four lines of Kufic script, with the mint name Sijistan and the AH date 132 inscribed within the field below. The square tablet is framed by a double linear border, with the four corners of the surrounding annulus marked by circular pellets. The marginal legend, running around the outer field, contains a quotation from Qur'an 42:23, rendered in elegant early Kufic epigraphy. The overall composition follows the standard epigraphic dirham format established by the Umayyad reform coinage, with all design elements consisting exclusively of Arabic religious and administrative inscriptions and no figural imagery. |
