Dirham - Anonymous al-Ikhlas

Beschrijving voorzijde	Central field bears three lines of Kufic Arabic script, the uppermost reading 'لا اله الا', forming part of the Shahada. The central inscription is encircled by a single marginal legend in Kufic script commencing with 'بسم الله' at approximately one o'clock and reading right to left, giving the mint name Ifriqiya and the AH date. The margin is framed by two concentric rings with evenly spaced annulets forming a decorative border typical of early Abbasid reformed coinage.

Beschrijving keerzijde	Central field contains four lines of Kufic Arabic script opening with 'الله', presenting the complete text of Surah al-Ikhlas (Qur'an 112), the defining feature of the reformed Umayyad-Abbasid epigraphic coinage tradition. The central inscription is enclosed by a single beaded ring. The outer marginal legend in Kufic script, commencing with 'محمد' at approximately one o'clock and reading right to left, carries the Risala formula. Annulets are evenly distributed throughout the margin as decorative elements.
