| Beschrijving keerzijde | Entirely epigraphic design in the Abbasid aniconic tradition. The central field bears a three-line Kufic inscription within concentric circular borders reading 'Muhammad is the Messenger of God.' The surrounding marginal legend carries the Quranic verse from Surah At-Tawbah (9:33), inscribed in angular Kufic script around the periphery. The coin is bounded by a finely executed pellet border, consistent with Abbasid hammered silver dirhams of the mid-second century AH. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, typical of hand-struck coinage of the period. |
